It was late spring, and the bluebonnets were starting to fade.  While the weather wasn’t unpleasantly warm, it was still warm enough to need the shade of an oak tree to sit in.  “This river bottom sure looks weird,” Shark said as he swam in the cool water.  “I think this is where humans used to cross before there were bridges,” said Norman.  “Humans crossed rivers without bridges?!” said Shark.  “Preposterous!!!  I have never heard of such a thing!”  “Oh, they used to do it on the Andersson farm all the time!” said Norman.  “There was a creek that ran through the woods bordering the canola fields, and in order to get the plow across, the humans would have to very carefully drive it through a shallow bit of water.  I heard them say something about not wanting to block the river flow or harm the fish.”  “That was thoughtful,” said Shark.  “It was,” said Norman.  “Maybe I shouldn’t try to bite the humans as often,” said Shark.  “Maybe,” said Norman.  “On the other hand, you don’t want them getting too comfortable.”

This original painting is watercolor and pen and ink.  It is framed and matted to approximately 8"x10".
