This piece is called "Art For Art's Sake" but I sometimes refer to it as "Return of the Banana" or "L'Hommage du Banana". This was my first parody of silliness going on in the art world. Back in 2019, an Italian absurdist artist named Maurizio Cattelan walked into a gallery in Milan, duct taped a banana to the wall, and declared it art. Not wanting to be accused of being a Philistine (and probably having some mafia money to unload), the gallery owner promptly found a buyer for it for MILLIONS. There is a whole banana art saga that you should definitely look up for yourself. For those of you who are wondering, the abstract paintings in the piece are made by dropping rubbing alcohol onto wet watercolor paint. You should try it! It's fun!
This piece is watercolor and pen and ink painted on watercolor paper. It is matted and framed under glass to approximately 5"x7". It can stand alone on a shelf, and there is also hardware for hanging it on the wall.
